Wood floor refinish?

Have a big dark spot in the floor that just won't sand out (even with 30 grit on a drum sander). It's almost like a stain of some sort all the way through the wood. Once I restain this area, it's going to show up as a big black spot and look like crap. What can I do...bleach it out or something??
